Hasli fails to find the target again

PETALING JAYA: The country’s top pistol shooter Hasli Izwan Amir Hasan fell to another defeat by national trainee Khalel Abdullah in the Selangor Shooting Championships at the Subang Shooting Range yesterday.

The Beijing Olympian, who has been the undisputed top male pistol shooter in the country over the last five years, was beaten into second place in the men’s 25m standard pistol event.

Khalel posted 553 points to win the event for Armed Forces ahead of the more illustrious Hasli, who scored 548. Darham Ali of Police shot 545 for the bronze.

Izwan Amir Hasan lost to national trainee Khalel Abdullah in the 25m standard pistol event.

Khalel’s winning effort helped Forces to clinch the team title with a combined total of 1,640 points.

Hasli was beaten by Khalel in the national shooting championships in December last year.

Hasli has not been training much due to work commitments and it was reflected in his inability to win his pet event — the 25m rapid fire pistol title on Friday.

The third day of the shooting meet saw the shooters firing blanks again as none came close to bettering the national records in the various categories.

My Comments:

Being an Olympian doesn't means that they will always have to win. For layman, as an Olympian or Olympic gold medalist, they should win always. No such thing applicable in sports. Hasli is just a normal human, after a big game, there should be a transition period. This year is the transition year. Give him some space to aligned his live. so many thing he had left before the Olympics. I believe Hasli is a good officer in KBS, and knowing him, he's an responsible officer. So being 2nd is just enough for him at this moment. I'm sure he will come back to the top within some time, hopefully he will get his dreamed Olympic Gold Medal in London. Amin...
